Hi there,

Jim and I just wanted to share some exciting bits of news with you...

We had two small launch events in Melbourne (at Bacash Restaurant) and Sydney (at Chin Chin) recently where we lined up 2014-2016 Isle alongside some 2013-2015 Armand Rousseau (namely Chambertin, Clos de la Roche and Les Cazetiers) in a 'Horizontal-Vertical' tasting over lunch.

It was all delicious. And the Isle held its own. The third bracket of 2016 Isle, and the 2015 Rousseau's was particularly challenging to seperate preferentially. Happy to say it was enjoyed thoroughly by the lucky ducks who came along.

We then poured the 2017 wines and, well, Huon Hooke just posted a review of what he thinks of the 2017 Isle...

"Deep red/purple colour with a spicy, vegetal, humus, quite bunchy kind of bouquet. It's full bodied, intense, bright, deep and generous on the palate. Some Chinotto or Campari nuances. There's tremendous intensity, concentration and fleshiness. Extraordinary power and length of palate. Tight, firm tannins add their stamp of authority to what is a very impressive wine. Tremendous length. An amazing, exciting wine. (1100 bottles made)"

98 POINTS!

(I mean it's not all about the points is it? But YAY - Huon is not usually a high scorer. In fact if you get on his site our Pinot is currently number 5 of all the Pinot he has ever reviewed - from anywhere, ever - the top 3 being Grand Cru Burgundies from 1988, 90 and 85. We are just a wee bit excited!)

In other news...

We have a DINNER coming up in Sydney next week. A night of Pinot and Duck organised by our wonderful friend Chef Darren Ho. Its going to be hoot! (There are still a few seats available I believe - if you would like to see our 2012-17 Isle lined up for yourself tickets can be found via the Grace Hotel website here:

The Cook, The Winemaker, his wife and the Cheesemaker
Thursday October 4
Grace Hotel Sydney
$195 per head

also...

Pinot Palooza is also very nearly upon us. All things Team Revel dream up are awesome fun times - Pinot Palooza is definitely up there as one of the bestest. If you are yet to experience this day of all things Pinot please find your way to one as soon as you can!

Apologies Melbourne and Sydney - we can't be there this year (We plan next year to return in full force). But if you are in Melbourne and Sydney you really should find you way there for the best day of Pinotphiling ever!
Melbourne is Saturday October 6 and Sydney on Sunday October 7.

We will be at Brisbane Pinot Palooza is on October 13 at the Showgrounds and Jim and I hope to see some familiar faces! (Be sure to get to us early in the day as we only have a small amount of the 2017 Isle available. I over sold it all again..)

And to finish, a new event for Hobart...

Urban Wine Walk on October 20

We will be popping up at Ettie's in the courtyard with our version of an urban cellar door in a coordinated 'Pop Up cellar door attack" on Hobart from a bunch of small wine producers.
Bound to be a very fun day - especially if the notorious Tassie weather behaves and gives us a sunny spring day. Again come early if you wish to see the Isle...

*Please note, to participate you need tickets for the wrist band to allow entry and your glass to use at each location.

Jim and I are looking forward to all these social fun times and then as the weather gets better (Pretty sure it snowed last night, but its sunny now!) tidying the place up and watching closely as V19 takes shape on our recently budding vines. This is a fun time of year to be here as everything bursts back to life. (hence the tidying up - blackberries are delicious but relentless and don't even mention bracken)

We hope to see you somewhere in the next few weeks but if not enjoy Spring where ever you may find yourself!

Cheers! Jim and Daisy
