Our Black Label Isle Pinot Noir is named for the Vineyard.
Isle Vineyard is a warm North facing site located at 43 08 23 S.
The soil/rock type is Permian Limestone and Calcareous mudstone, or as the locals call it ‘Cygnet Cement’, and is littered with fossils from this period, the last period of the paleozoic era.
Planting began in 2007, only Pinot Noir (1.5 ha) to eight different clones (predominantly the earlier ripening Dijon clones) – all on own roots. Spacing is 5000 vines/ha.
